Jordan holds an improbable amount inside a country you can cross in a day. Petra is a rose-coloured city cut into the rock at the end of a narrow gorge, and the walk in through the Siq is half of why it works. Wadi Rum is red sand and sandstone towers that film crews keep using for Mars. The Dead Sea sits at the lowest point on land and will not let you sink. Jerash still has its Roman streets. One group departure this season, leaving on 2 December.
